Match My Makeup App - Face Scan Notice

This notice explains how Ivivaco Pty Ltd trading as Match My Makeup (“MMM”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, stores and destroys information when you use Face Scan. It forms part of our Privacy Policy and, for users in Washington and Nevada, our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

What Face Scan does

Face Scan uses your device camera to take a photo of your face. Our AI service provider analyses the photo and returns an estimate of your skin age and your skin concerns. We use these results to build your Beauty Profile and recommend complexion and skincare products. Face Scan is not used to identify you or to verify who you are. Face Scan is available only to users aged 18 and over.

What we collect

• Your face photo, taken during the scan. Some laws treat a face photo, or information derived from it, as a biometric identifier or biometric information.
• Your Face Scan results: estimated skin age, and skin concerns such as fine lines, redness, acne, firmness, pigmentation and texture. These results may be health information or consumer health data.

Why we collect it

We collect your face photo only to generate your Face Scan results. We use your results only to build your Beauty Profile, recommend products, and provide and secure the Face Scan feature. We do not use your photo or results for advertising or to train artificial intelligence models.

Who receives it

Your photo is sent securely to MMM’s server, hosted by Linode (Akamai), and to Google, which analyses it through the paid Gemini API on our behalf. Google does not use it to train its models. Google acts as our service provider and processor and may only use the photo to provide the service to us. We do not disclose your photo or results to anyone else unless the law requires it.

We will never sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from your face photo or Face Scan results.

How long we keep it and when we destroy it

• Face photo: deleted from MMM’s server within 1 minute of the analysis being completed. Google may keep it for a limited period for abuse monitoring and legal compliance under its Gemini API terms, after which it is deleted.
• Face Scan results: kept in your Beauty Profile until you delete them or your account. In any event, we permanently destroy them no later than 3 years after your last use of MMM.

Your choices

• Face Scan is optional. If you do not consent, you can build your Beauty Profile by answering questions instead, and you can still use every other part of MMM.
• You can withdraw your consent at any time in Me > Beauty Profile > Redo Quiz or by emailing appsupport@matchmymakeup.com. When you withdraw, we delete your Face Scan results and you will not be able to use Face Scan until you consent again.
• You can delete your Face Scan results at any time in the same place.

Your consent

By ticking the consent box and selecting “Agree and start Face Scan”, you confirm that you have read this notice. You also give your consent, and your written release for the purposes of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, to MMM collecting, using, storing and sharing your face photo and Face Scan results as described above.
